Raiders Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) Screening Day
Every week in the UK at least 12 assumingly fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions… CRY is a national charity saving young lives and supporting those affected. The charity aims to reduce the frequency of young, sudden cardiac death by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to help protect and promote the cardiac health in our young. Harry Faulkner and Alex Hubbard were both Raiders players and both lost their lives early to an undiagnosed heart condition. At the last Raiders screening, four individuals were identified needing additional investigations. This is why Raiders are so passionate about supporting and promoting CRY.
There are ONLY 100 PLACES AVAILABLE. So, if you would like your daughter or son (along with siblings) to be screened, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will email you a password which will allow you to go onto the CRY Website and book a slot.
Once on the website the instructions are as follows.
- At the top of the page is the header “PRIVATE SCREENINGS”, click on this link and you will see Ashlyns School listed for Saturday 21st April 2018
- Click on the name and you will be asked for a password. (You will need to email email@example.com and they will email you the password required). Please ensure the first letter of the password is capitalised. Click on the “Places Available” link and choose a time slot. Please do not give our this password as the screening is PRIVATE.
- Fill in the required details and then click book.
- You will receive a pending email which means the appointment is booked (please check your junk email folder if you do not receive this in your inbox). Nearer the time of the screening you will be sent a confirmation email and this will include a medical questionnaire and consent form. Please down load the documents, read carefully, complete the required information and take them with you on the day.
We will give priority to any children/adults who were not screened last year. The test is painless, non-invasive and takes only a few minutes to perform. (Note: the heart is too immature to pick up certain abnormalities before the age of 14. If your child is outside the lower age limit, Raiders will be holding the same event every 2 years.
Berkhamsted Raiders is funding the screening day. It’s free of charge. But we do invite parents to make a voluntary donation. The best way of doing this would be to go to our JUST GIVING PAGE If you book a slot and fail to turn up, a charge of £35 will be made. There will be a 48 hour cancellation policy to allow us to re-fill the slot.
