Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided football game that originated in South America in the 1930s and is now played widely across the world. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game. Many of the top world class footballers played Futsal in their
youth and credit it with supporting their footballing development. Players of the calibre of Pele, Zico, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Lionel Messi to name but a few of the South American legends all played and enjoyed Futsal. But Futsal has not just helped produce South American football stars, on the European stage Cristiano Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi,
Fabregas amongst many others have played Futsal to develop their skills

Junior Futsal

Raiders Futsal offering continues to grow, with sessions on Saturday mornings for the younger boys, Monday evenings for the girls and extra mixed open sessions for U9s through to U16s on Wednesday evenings.
We are also partnering with Ross & Andy Soccer Camps who offer Tuesday Futsal sessions from U6 through to U9 creating a pathway for them to move up in to the Raiders training sessions over the next 12 months.
On the competitive side, we now have several younger teams competing in a regular Princes Risborough league and our U9 and U11 teams are competing in a league run by Escolla at Ashlyns. The U14s have entered a new Herts FA Friday night league that is due to start shortly.
We also entered teams in the recent Herts FA County Futsal Festival, which feeds in to the National competition. The U9 boys competed in the U10 section and won a game, losing two narrowly before succumbing to the eventual runners up and Winners, who were both a year older.
The U13 girls played up a year in the U14s, drew two and lost two games by a single goal margin, including a game against eventual winners Watford Ladies U14. The U12 boys had a similar experience, competing well but eventually losing out to Pro Futsal London, a very strong, dedicated futsal club.

Raiders Senior Futsal Team

Raiders Senior Futsal Team on their league debut against the talented Brazilians of Brazuca

In November 2017, Raiders set up their first Senior Futsal team for players over 16. They now play every Friday in The Herts Futsal 5s Hemel League. The team is the first step in making Raiders one of the leading forces in this exciting sport.

Our ultimate aim is to get a Raiders team into the National Futsal Leagues, with the top of the pyramid being the Super League, where one ex-Raider currently plays for one of the strongest teams in the country. The sport is now so well developed that it has regular European Championships and World Cups with England ranked approximately 40th in the world and rising fast.

In Spain, the strongest teams (Barcelona & Movistar) are fully professional and regularly play in front of crowds of 20,000 people. Clearly, we have some work to do to catch up but we would like Raiders to play their part in the revolution.
