Introducing our New Marketing Trustee – Simeon Bird

We are delighted to announce that Simeon Bird, parent of U12s girls, has agreed to join our Trustee Board as our new Marketing Trustee.

Simeon Bird joins us as Trustee with a wealth of marketing experience across many well-known brands such as Cadbury’s, Hasbro, Twinings, Orange and EE. Currently Marketing Director at BT, in the Enterprise division, Simeon was recently Raiders assistant manager for his daughter’s U11 team.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’ve lived in Berkhamsted for 10 years this December and have a son and daughter at Ashlyns School. I do a bit of cycling on weekends (well, I’m a 50-something man so love a bit of lycra) and have a Vizsla (pet dog) who enjoys going for a jog, despite my lack of pace.

Are you a big sports fan?

I’m a massive sports fan, and in particular football. I’ve always enjoyed ‘the beautiful game’, both playing and watching. In fact, when I was 22 I went to work in Buenos Aires for two years and made so many friends by joining 5-a-side teams, as well as going to watch one of the big five Argentinian teams, San Lorenzo, every week. Football is such an international sport that being able to play really is a life skill.

Why a trustee at Raiders?

My daughter Lola, has been playing with Raiders for the last 3 years and absolutely loves it. I could see that the club creates a fabulous environment for children to participate at whatever level for the love of playing football and developing their skills, as well as making new friends. I wanted to do something to contribute and as a trustee I’ll work with Chris and the team to continue to make this fantastic club as good as it can be for all our members, volunteers and the community.

What do you think you can bring to the club?

I’d like to think that my marketing and business experience can be helpful in our quest to grow the club, its resources and the overall benefits we offer the community of Berkhamsted. We’re the largest girls football club in the country, and in the top 5 across boys and girls, so we have a great opportunity to raise the profile and stature of the club which in turn will help us bring in more income to be used to provide better experiences for our members.

Anything else you want to add?

If anyone is interested in joining me to support the marketing effort for Raiders, then please make contact via simeonbird@berkhamstedraiders.com . Anybody who wants to volunteer, whether it’s to contribute some time to this local non-profit club or to get some experience to put on the CV, we’d love to hear from people who would enjoy running our social channels, managing the website or creating great content and comms to our stakeholders .
