New Chair and Treasurer for Raiders
Berkhamsted Raiders CFC announces new Chair and Treasurer for next season, as long-serving Chair of Trustees, Keith Pollard, stands down to free up time for other volunteer roles within sport and recreation.
Keith Pollard, Chair of Trustees, has announced that he is stepping down from his Chair position to dedicate more time to other volunteer roles within sport and recreation including within the Herts FA and Dacorum Sports Network. The Board of Trustees have announced that Chris Armond, currently Marketing Trustee, will take over as Chair of Trustees at the club’s AGM in September.
Berkhamsted Raiders was formed in 1996 by a dedicated group of volunteers who wanted their children to have a fun and safe environment to play youth football in Berkhamsted. Former Chair, Paul Beard, was instrumental in the early growth of the club and establishing its principles and ethos that continue to this day. Following Paul’s tragic early death, Keith Pollard stepped up to take over as Chair of Trustees in
2009 and has been key to the growth of the club to the point where we now have over 1,200 local boys and girls in 95 teams playing football locally and are now one of the largest youth football clubs in the country.
New Raiders Treasurer
Additionally Raiders Treasurer, Steve Bird, has also announced he is stepping down from the Board of Trustees and is to be replaced by Richard Bedlow, a club Trustee with a background in accountancy and finance. In his time as Treasurer, Steve has been key in keeping the club’s finances in order as it has grown in players and revenue and been instrumental in progressing the club’s ambitions for a clubhouse of its own.
The club will also be marking its 25th year of youth football in the local community, with events and initiatives throughout the season.
Keith Pollard, outgoing Chair of Trustees said “It’s been an honour to be Chair of Raiders for the last 12 years and see the growth of football in the town and our progress in driving the growth of girls’ football especially. It’s an exciting time for the club and a chance for some new blood to lead the club forward”
Chris Armond, Chair-Elect said “Keith’s commitment, passion and energy has been fundamental to the growth of the club and, along with Steve, has a played a key role in building the foundations for our current success. We thank them both for their service and dedication to Raiders and, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary next season, look forward to building on their work to develop the club’s ambitions on the pitch and in the community.”
